"Go High is a hit! Winston Warrior returns to the music scene with a song that is so relevant; a track that grooves, vocals that are smooth with lyrics and a message that speak to the feelings of many people today."
- International Urban Music Executive
The wait is finally over! Winston releases his new single today. As you can tell from the quote above, the music industry is already proclaiming that Winston's new single "Go High" is a hit.
No one is exempt from getting burned in life. Sometimes you get burned so badly the lingering sting cripples you, leaving you in limbo and wondering where to go next. When that happens, you can lose sight of goals and dreams altogether … or it can inspire you and provide the exact motivation needed to thrust you into overdrive. If you play it right, the low blows that life can sometimes deal can be used as fuel to propel you to that place where you begin pursuing what you were aiming for in reckless abandon.
This is precisely the story of Winston Warrior, dubbed by some as “the modern day Marvin Gaye.”
Though a perfectionist in his quest to learn from Music, Winston Warrior is by no means a newcomer to her instruction. Warrior, like his signature emblem the Phoenix suggests, is reborn and will keep rising through the lessons and the industry’s ranks.
Atlanta born and authentically Southern raised, Winston Warrior painfully lost his virginity to the music industry in the ‘90s. Once a member of the all male breakout group, Lo’ Profile, Winston briefly tasted stardom, to only have his hopes crushed under the pressures of the industry’s harsh realities. Dreams deferred, he picked up the pieces and became a successful corporate marketing executive, but in doing so quickly learned how unfulfilling it can be to “settle” in life and held closely a deep desire to change course and pursue his dream once again.
While the collaborative dream didn’t come to fruition, the ever-present longing for Winston to create and fulfill his artistic goals never dissipated. The initial setback presented him with the opportunity to acquire new tools to prepare him to re-launch his music career when the timing was right and with a better chance at success. He was now armed with an undergrad and graduate business degree from the University of Miami and had plenty of production and performance experience under his belt to eventually re-approach his first love with more solid footing. In the meantime, Winston’s star in the corporate arena was on the rise – which gave him the clout to make vital new connections and retain those he had from his glory days in the music industry. The setup was beginning to materialize, however, the sting from the burn of the first outing remained, making him hesitant to pic up the mic and reemerge as an artist. He had been away from the game for so long and his insecurities loomed large, undermining his confidence to sing. But in the spirit of the fabled phoenix, instead of ending his dreams, he was reminded that the ashes of his former music career were meant to set him up for a rebirth … and recognizing that, he became determined to rise again.
Two years into Winston Warrior’s transition from the “Boardroom to Billboard”, the phoenix continued to rise. With the success of Lifeology 101, he became a charming musical and social media force, buoyed by the quality of his artistry and stunning visuals of himself at various stages along the journey of his artistic rebirth. And the rise of that phoenix turned to soaring as he continued to master life’s lessons through re-experience. Reflecting on his path to date, Winston exposed more of himself and took us back into the classroom in his sequel effort, Lifeology 101…Back 2 School, released in the Fall of 2012:
“When I look back at where I was versus where I am now, I definitely feel like I am blessed. I am living the dream and I don’t want to wake up.”
Now, Winston is poised for another meteoric return with his revitalized modeling career (featuring his distinctive salt and pepper beard) along with his recent international performance this past October in Fukuoka, Japan. The climax of Winston’s return to the entertainment scene comes with the release of his brand new single “Go High”; again written and produced by The Exclusives and inspired by today’s unprecedented political climate. As he was seeking to avoid being beset again by the unpredictable low blows that life can deal, he was quickened by then FLOTUS Michelle Obama’s speech that addressed that very thing. She ended her speech with the words, “when they go low, we go high,” which along with aligning with the spirit of the phoenix, presented as the perfect theme for where Winston had been and where he found himself at that moment. The Exclusives embraced the concept and once again artistically challenged him to peel away the layers to the tenderness and master the life lessons put before him. In Warrior’s raspy tenor voice, underscored with deliberately modest arrangements, he has opened up to create another authentically positive branded R&B smash hit, modernized with infused synth and strong baseline highlights.

I was born and raised in the rural West Tennessee town of Whiteville. I spent many of my younger years dreaming about the day that I would leave that little town, move to Atlanta, and have a "great life". And when the song Tennessee from Arrested Developmentcame out, it became my them song....."Take me to another place, take me to another land...." . When that song came on, it would give me inspiration to just keep holding on because one day, I would leave that town.....Little did I know that the song wasn't really about what I thought.
Well, it took me many years before I actually moved to Atlanta....I went into the military for 5 years and lived in Texas, for about 5 years thereafter. Finally in 2008. I moved to Atlanta. After being in the metro Atlanta area for 8 years, surprisingly, I often miss the memories that I had in my little town of Whiteville. Today, I realize that I spent most of my years dreaming of getting away, that I didn't take time to appreciate the moment. I SAID THAT.....TO LEAD YOU TO THIS After years of jamming to Tennessee and desiring to leave Tennessee, I got a chance to sit down with the writer of the song, Todd "Speech" Thomas, on When We Speak. We got a chance to talk about so much stuff like old music, new music, politics, and even his music school (The Victory Spot).
Be sure to check out the interview, I believe that it will definitely be a blessing and encouragement to your life. AND GUESS WHAT? WE JUST MADE WHEN WE SPEAK HISTORY! THIS IS THE FIRST GRAMMY AWARD WINNING ARTIST TO JOIN ME ON THE SHOW!!! WE'VE HAD NOMINATED ARTISTS BUT NEVER AN ARTIST THAT HOLDS THE AWARD.....PRAY WITH ME THAT THERE ARE EVEN MORE TO COME!

When God gave me the vision of When We Speak, I didn't fully understand the concept that "Death and LIFE are in the power of the tongue".... but boy has he been teaching it to me. Each interview on When We Speak has been a blessing to my life, because it has allowed me to meet and build relationships with many great people. It has also been a blessing because when I don't have any idea of who to interview, I always ask God to send me the next one! And He has!!! And although all my interviews have been very essential, there is one in particular that I would like to share with you....It's the interview with Terrell Carter.
This interview is essential because it embodied the very principle that When We Speak is built on. Here's the story: (#TRUESTORY)
One day I was on the phone talking to a music producer friend of mine and I was telling him that Terrell Carter was a really good singer and I would love to meet him one day. Then, a couple of days later I was talking to my camera man about guests for the show and I told him that I really wish I could interview Terrell Carter but I don't know anyone that knows him or that I could reach out to. A few days later...I talked to the producer friend again, and he tells me, "I meet someone that knows you". And of course I was like "Really?" and was shocked because I wasn't sure who it could be. Then, he finally told me who it was and I was like "oh ok...yeah! I know her". Little did I know that she was going to be my connection to Terrell Carter. So then, the producer tells me.... "She and I are in the studio with an artist and your name came up...."
SIDE NOTE:
Did you just catch what he said? "She and I are in the studio with an artist and your name came up!"When I heard that, I was overwhelmed!! Just to think that my name is starting to buzz around Atlanta!!! but anyway....
BACK TO THE STORY......
He also told me that she had also wanted him to do some studio time with another artist that she works with...... and guess who that artist was...yep!!! Terrell Carter!!!
So of course, I didn't say anything about wanting him on the show again or anything about "hook a brother up!". I just went on with business as usual and one day I was on the phone with the lady that my producer friend and I have in common, when she says, "Did you get my email?" and I was like, "What email?" and she says, "I was wanting to know if you would like to interview Terrell Carter on your show." Of course, with no hesitation, I was said YES! So immediately, she called Terrell on the phone, I introduced myself, told him about the mission of When We Speak, and it was history from there!!!
Even while I'm typing this, I can feel shivers going through my body! Just to think that I spoke that!!! You can actually speak things into existence!!! WOW! God heard me! So without further delay, please check out my interview with Terrell Carter! Be Blessed and Keep On Speaking!!!!
Hey SPEAKERS!
I just wanted to take a moment to share with you that my friend and previous guest on When We Speak, is releasing a new song....IT'S RAHBI!!!!
There are many people that have influenced my life and have encouraged me throughout the years, through the art of music. Among those are people like India Arie, Lashun Pace, Anthony Hamilton, Monica, Sounds of Blackness, and ThePace Sisters. (Like I said that’s just a few names). I can even tell you the songs that have had the most impact on my life by each of these artists:
Among the list of artists, I never thought I would ever get a chance to meet any of these artist but I believe that when people have empowered you, you should let them know. Who would have thought that I would get a chance to meet the leader of one of these songs.......
Recently, I had a chance to sit down with Quan Howell, who led the song Hold On (Change is Coming) by the Sounds of Blackness. I can’t begin to tell you how great it felt to speak to someone that had empowered so much Life into my life. So when the opportunity allowed me a chance to interview him, I JUMP ALL OVER IT!
Not only was Quan a member of the Sounds of Blackness but he also played Reverend Lewis in the Tyler Perry play Madea’s Family Reunion.
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with singer Winston Warrior, to talk about his past, current, and future career goals. While speaking to him, I was very inspired. Winston talks about his past struggles in the music industry and how he originally gave up on the music. But that didn't stop him! (Check out the videos below.)
The interview with Winston was very inspiring to me because it signified my life! I can totally relate to the things that he's experienced. Most of all, it inspired me to "Keep Moving". And I hope that it inspires you to keep working hard at what you do and never give up on your dream! Some people don't believe that dreams can come true.....sometimes your dream becomes bigger than you ever imagined!
