Inside The Thoughts of Jermaine Sain: Background Singer/ Artist Workshop with Crissy Collins

I'm trying to get better at sharing the things that are going on in the city of Atlanta, guests on When We Speak, as well as myself.  So I'm covering all three; by talking about what happened on July 11th.  As many of you know, I've had the pleasure of being acquainted with a background singer who has sang with some of the biggest names in entertainment....Crissy Collins!!!   She is a past guest and huge supporter of my show When We Speak.

If that name doesn't ring a bell to you, then you obviously aren't a Beyonce or Tyler Perry fan!!  And you definitely need to check out this interview with her on When We Speak!!!

Crissy Collins has been a background singer for Beyonce for more than 10 plus years and has acted in several Tyler Perry plays!  And that's not all!  She has sang with Kelly Price, Monica, Luther Vandross, and many others.  Recently, I saw pics with Crissy and R. Kelly in the studio, as well as,  of Crissy with Fantasia!!!! I wonder what they are cooking up!?!?   CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT!!!

BACK TO THE BLOG!
Well, the reason for today's blog is..... I want to tell you about the Background Vocalist/Artist Workshop that Crissy conducted on July 11th in Atlanta, Georgia.  Crissy is a very busy lady and when she comes home to Atlanta, she's usually back out on the road in a few days, so for her to choose to do a workshop in Atlanta was #SuperAwesome!!! And for her to personally invite me to assist her for her first workshop was #MoreSuperAwesome !!!
Beyonce Background Singer Crissy Collins

Not only was this an awesome idea, it was also a heart felt action by Crissy Collins.  During the workshop she shared lots of information and music industry stories.  She also shared her heart's desire to help people that are want to get into the entertainment industry.  (That's what my show, When We Speak, is all about so of course, I was sold when she said that!  By the way, if you haven't seen my show, please go and check it out: WATCH WHEN WE SPEAK)

During the workshop, Crissy covered things like microphone technique, image, marketing, headshots, press kits, selecting audition songs, how to get a gig, promotions, finances, networking, and much more.
In addition, there were two guest speakers that joined the discussion:  Eboni Stephans of ESMV Creative Arts Agency and DJ Blak Magic.
Now of course I can't tell you all the details of the workshop!
ONE.....I was working!
TWO... I'll hoping to see you at the next!!!

However, I will say, that I got a chance to speak with all the attendees of the workshop before it was over and all of them were well pleased with the outcome and provided great feedback for the next one!!!  Hope to see YOU at the next one!!!!

NOTHING IS COINCIDENCE

It's amazing how God allows you to be at the right place, at the right time!
Recently I was checking out music (as I always am) and I ran across and artist by the name of Carmen Rodgers. I liked what I heard so I decided to check out some more of her music. In the midst of checking out her music I ran across a video by Carmen Rodgers called It's Me. Ironically, when this song started playing, I new the hook already! (How did I already know this song? Til this day, it still boggles my mind)....anyway, once I realized that I knew the song I decided to try to find out how I knew this Carmen Rodgers girl. Unfortunately I still wasn't sure. Then I found out that she was performing in Atlanta.....once again, how ironic that I would find out about her show, right after finding her music.
Since I definitely believe in a higher power, I was convinced that none of these things were by coincidence. I decided to reach out to Carmen's booking agent about an interview on When We Speak. Her booking and I and I waited for confirmation of the date.
By the time Friday came, I was still hopeful but I started to tell myself, "Jermaine, be patient and if now is the time, it will happen". (Keep in mind I started getting worried because it was Friday and we had talked about interviewing the next Monday, and since that was my birthday weekend, I knew I would not be readily available to my emails).

CONTINUING....
I had planned a few things on my birthday weekend but I had one event that I still wanted to attend (a listening party for Atlanta artist Rahbi). I wasn't sure if I would be able to attend but luckily I made it...... Remember how I said at the being that "It's amazing how God allows you to be at the right place, at the right time!"? Well, I get to the event and guess who I run into? Yep! You guessed it......CARMEN RODGERS! So when she walked past me, I had to take the opportunity to introduce myself............and guess what? We interviewed the day after my birthday.....what a great birthday gift!!!
I wanted to tell the full story about how I felt to encourage you today! Nothing ever happens by chance! Each breathing moment of our lives, we have to remember that God will present the door of opportunity. We have to be bold enough to knock when the door is presented! I hope this story encourages you and gives you hope to keep focus of your vision and destiny!
Just Remember: Nothing happens by chance......you are not reading this by chance! It was meant specifically for you...TODAY!!!

Randevyn Interview Coming Soon!

Don't Forget to look out for new interviews on When We Speak TV.  My latest interview is with Singer/ Songwriter Randevyn Pierre.
Randevyn Pierre first discovered his talents in Pirmasens, Germany, as the lead vocalist of his father's gospel choir at the age of 10. After moving back to the United States at 13, he began playing piano and organ for his local church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. As a high school student, Pierre recorded Christian music with Verity Records' Stellar Award-winning, Colorado Mass Choir as well as EMI's Denver-based, Heritage Christian Center Choir. Years later, Randevyn impulsively packed his bags and headed south to expand and further his music career. Shortly after his relocation to Atlanta, Georgia, Randevyn's talent was brought to the attention of several Atlanta musicians including rapper Chris Ludacris Bridges and platinum-selling R&B group, Jagged Edge's 581 Entertainment. Playing piano for himself, Randevyn was invited to audition for Jagged Edge's small label and their mother, Linda Casey, who was impressed with Pierre's talents. Because of the label's full roster and other issues, the business relationship was never consummated. Later, after an unsuccessful audition with Fox's American Idol (season 3), Randevyn decided to merge a collection of soul songs he had written and recorded. Randevyn's musical visibility began in October 2005 when he teamed up with Sincere Johnson, CEO of Atlanta-based, Sin. J Entertainment, surfacing as the company's flagship artist.

Randevyn's 2005 compilation of songs entitled, SolTrain was nationally released by Sin. J Entetainment as a full-length, independent album on November 8th. Though released by a small company, SolTrain was nominated for several independent music awards, being played on radio in the United States, Europe and Asia on Radio One[citation needed] and XM Radio. Randevyn's first album also made its mark, entering Billboard's Radio & Records in September, 2005. In March 2006, BET featured Randevyn's SolTrain album on its official website. In June 2006, he appeared at the BET Awards in Los Angeles, California, as a result of SolTrain's media attention.

In early 2007, Randevyn partnered two-time Grammy Award-winning producer, David "Mr. DJ" Sheats (Outkast, Goodie Mobb, the Dungeon Family) to begin working on a second album. In June 2007, Randevyn took a short break from recording, touring in a support role with Universal's Grammy Award-winning, India.Arie. During this tour, Randevyn appeared at New York City's Carnegie Hall for the first time. At the end of this tour, Randevyn was urged by India.Arie (whom he credits as his musical mentor) to began producing his own material as a pianist and singer-songwriter. By September 2007, Randevyn had taken another approach to his music, heeding Arie's advice about producing skeletons for his own songs. The decision to create music from his original piano arrangements triggered a major change in Randevyn's sound as he began creating more fingerprinted compositions that would mirror his musicianship. He later partnered Mike Phillips of the Drummerboyz Club to complete the full musical production of The Randevyn Project.

Randevyn's second studio album was titled, The Randevyn Project, and released by Earthtone Music in February, 2009. In a 2008 Myspace blog, Randevyn expressed his new view on his brand of music, acting as co-producer on his second album. When snippets from the album were released on Randevyn's official Myspace page in March 2008, it was clear to many that his musical angle had been re-invented. The new cross-genre album was originally scheduled for release on Tuesday, September 30, 2008, but was not released until the following year. According to his Myspace blog, this release was projected to emerge as an incredible, ground-breaking, urban alternative album. Though the release did not claim the national visibility of SolTrain, Randevyn was regarded by many as an activist-songwriter who created his own, remarkable stamp of pop music with the release of The Randevyn Project.

New Artists + New Interviews = NEW INTRO

NEW ARTISTS + NEW INTERVIEWS = NEW INTRO

So I've finally started putting more time into my interviewing skills and started looking for more artists, business owners, etc. to interview.  I'm still search for new artists, so if you are in the Atlanta area or in a neighboring state of Georgia....HIT ME UP at jermainesainmusic@gmail.com.  I'm willing to travel too but it has to be worth it!  I would like for When We Speak TV to be a platform for a variety of creative people to share with the world what they do, and their story.

Although I'm not mainstream (YET), you can also help me by watching my interviews and sharing them with your friends and family.  I would greatly appreciate the support!  That way, I can get more interviews!

Time To Stop Breeding Hate!

Mama Hate - When We Speak TV

This is a song that I wrote about hatred, whether it be racism, homophobia, child abuse, or bullying. I was sitting at my house one day and I heard so many stories about kids being bullied, suicide bombings, and just alot of violence and hatred. It bothered me so much that I had to sit down and write a song about it called "Mama Hate".

I came up with this concept because I believe that we are not elevating as we should in life, because we live in so much hatred. I don't believe that this is something that is in us, I think that it is a behavior that our grandparents were taught- and they taught our parents- and our parents taught us- and we have taught it to our kids.....When does this horrible cycle ever stop? I vow to no longer be a child of Mama Hate.

Jermaine Sain

PS. I hope you enjoy the song....Please comment and share the song if you like it. This is only verse one of the song. LOVE! And Most of All PEACE!

"Get Out" By Jermaine Sain

I wrote this song years ago.  I was in a very mentally abusive relationship and in the midst of it, I found myself homeless, working for minimum wage, and many months behind on my car loan
One day, as I was attempting my suicide plan.  I fled down the highway in my car to run it off a bridge.......well.....that's all you need to know....I didn't do it!  And the words to this song came to me!
I would like to encourage anyone that has ever been in an abusive relationship or have ever contemplated suicide, that neither is worth your life.  You are much better than him/her and your life is too precious to take.
Sometimes I wondered why I had to go through that stage of my life and now I realize that it was so that I can now appreciate where I am, the money I make, the house, I live in, and the car I drive....It's not the best but thank God, I found "my way out" and ""I Feel Good"!
