Bartlett and Krifchin Join Atlanta Track Club Elite
Georgia Tech Grad and Marathon Veteran Aiming for Career-Year in 2020
Picture
As the Olympic year approaches, Atlanta Track Club Elite announced Friday that it has added a middle distance star and a marathon standout to its team of Olympic hopeful athletes.
Recent Georgia Tech graduate Avery Bartlett will begin his professional career in Atlanta starting with the 2020 indoor track and field season. Bartlett is the 2018 ACC Champion in the 800m. He holds the second fastest 800m and 1500m times in school history. His 1:47.54 set in 2019 trails only Atlanta Track Club Elite teammate Brandon Lasater (1:47.38, 2015) on the Yellow Jacket all-time list.
Bartlett was born in Atlanta but grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. He returned to Atlanta to study at Georgia Tech, the school from which both his parents, his grandfather and great grandfather all graduated.
“This city has always meant a lot to me. I see putting on an Atlanta Track Club singlet as my way to fully contribute to the city's success,” said Bartlett. “Atlanta Track Club gives me the opportunity to train with some of the best and put my limits to the test.”
Picture
Bartlett joins a talented group of middle distance men in Atlanta which includes Lasater and Abraham Alvarado, the 1,000m runner up at the 2019 USATF Indoor Track & Field Championships.
With just 11 weeks until Atlanta hosts the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon, veteran marathon star Maegan Krifchin has returned to Atlanta to train with Atlanta Track Club Elite. Krifchin, who placed 7th in the 2016 Trials, comes to Atlanta after training in Washington D.C. She previously ran with the Club in 2017. The Long Island, New York native and Syracuse University alum holds a personal best of 2:32:47 in the marathon and 1:09:51 in the half marathon.
“I came to Atlanta Track Club to be part of a community where I can support others and they can support me,” said Krifchin. “I thrive in this kind of environment and I am excited to see what we can do together.”
Picture
Krifchin is one of eight Atlanta Track Club athletes qualified for the Trials which will be held on February 29. Bridget Belyeu, Laurie Knowles, Lacey Krout, Morgan VanGorder, Wilkerson Given and Matt McDonald are also qualified for the race.
“Avery and Maegan each bring new talent, experience and personality to Atlanta Track Club Elite,” said Coach Amy Begley. “We look forward to seeing Avery compete with the nation’s best this season and to have Maegan join the hometown team competing for a spot in Tokyo.”
Founded in 2015, Atlanta Track Club Elite is sponsored by Mizuno USA and coached by Amy and Andrew Begley.

RHOA star, Kandi Burruss, Shares When We Speak TV With Her Followers

Picture
We are super late sharing this with you but it is still relevant.......   About two months ago, When We Speak TV, was lucky enough to cover the 2019 Black Music Honors in Atlanta.   The experience was super awesome.   We got the opportunity to speak with several of the honorees and performers such as Yolanda Adams, Major., Freddie Jackson, Arrested Development, Tony Terry, and Mali Music, just to name a few.  R&B group Xscape was also honored that night, however, we didn't get a chance to speak with them.
Thereafter, we saw online that Kandi Burruss of Xscape/ Real Housewives of Atlanta, had sent posted that she was trying out a new texting system.  Of course, like everyone else, we were skeptical about the text.

CLICK HERE TO SEE INTERVIEWS FROM 2019 BLACK MUSIC HONORS

FAST FORWARD A LITTLE:
I'm on the phone talking to my sister on the phone and she mentions that she signed up for Kandi's text message.........well, the next morning I woke up and looked on Instagram and saw this notification.
Picture
I was so super surprised then I saw that it was my sister who sent out a text to Kandi and she actually posted it to her Instagram story!!!!   In addition, my sister forwarded me a voice message from Kandi, clarifying that it was indeed her!
Picture
That totally caught me off guard but thanks Kandi for sharing.....
We still haven't had the opportunity to interview Kandi but we are hopeful!

THANK YOU KANDI BURRUSS FOR SUPPORING WHEN WE SPEAK TV!
WE HOPE TO SPEAK WITH YOU SOON!

P.S.  If there is anyone out there that can help us book this interview, please let us know.

Atlanta Track Club Announces 2020 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-Shirt Design Contest

Graphic designers, amateur artists and creative minds looking to have their work appear on Atlanta’s most famous T-shirt are invited to submit designs for the 2020 AJC Peachtree Road Race T-Shirt Contest.
Submissions are now being accepted. Click here to submit a design.
The theme of this year’s AJC Peachtree Road Race is “Move Forward with Atlanta.” Submissions should illustrate the way in which the iconic event continues to shape and reflect growth and change in Atlanta.
“Following an unforgettable celebration of its 50th Running, the AJC Peachtree Road Race moves forward into the next 50 years of the iconic event,” said Race Director Rich Kenah. “The artist who wins this year’s contest will be a major storyline of the Peachtree’s new chapter.”
Artists can submit up to three designs between today and February 1, 2020. Detailed instructions including size, color limits and file types can be found here. A panel of judges from Atlanta Track Club, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the running community will choose five finalists. The five finalists will be voted on by the public in March with the winning design being revealed at the finish line of the 51st Running of the AJC Peachtree Road Race on July 4, 2020.
