On Sunday, September 1st, Atlanta's Piedmont Park will welcome the 8th Pure Heat Community Festival; also known as a free “day of unity.” The free cultural event is equipped with market and food vendors, live celebrity and local performers, entertainment, educational forums, prizes & giveaways - all designed to bring together the spirit of community, pride, and vision. In partnership with The Vision Community Foundation, a portion of proceeds from the weekend’s festivities are used to benefit homeless LGBT youth and those infected/affected with HIV/AIDS. An exciting line-up of indie-artist performances, honorees and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
Hosted by Bishop Oliver Clyde Allen IIIRashad Burgess, Avian Watson and Melissa “DJ M” Scott, the Pure Heat Community Festival is a front seat into a spectacular gathering of minority LGBTQ people and their allies in the heart of Atlanta.

Chicago based television production company Central City Productions announces the 2019 Black Music Honors television taping set to take place on Thursday, September 5th at The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, GA. During this star-studded two-hour television special, Central City Productions (CCP) will honor artists and musicians who have influenced and made significant contributions to American music.

The honorees for this year’s Black Music Honors include Xscape who will receive the Urban Music Icon Award for the platinum selling quartet group's 25 years in the industry. Yolanda Adams will receive the Gospel Music Icon Award. Culturally-conscience eclectic group, Arrested Development and chart-topping crooner, Freddie Jackson, whose career has spanned over 33 years, will also be honored.
“The vision behind the Black Music Honors is to recognize the trailblazers in African American music who have paved the way for the artists of today. Many of these artists have never received their much-deserved recognition,” stated Founder and Executive Producer, Don Jackson.
Television and radio personality Rickey Smiley and GRAMMY® Award-winner and actress LeToya Luckett return as co-hosts of the show, which is set to air in broadcast syndication Sept. 14 – October 20, 2019. State Farm returns as the show’s title sponsor.

Hammonds House Honors Celebrates and Recognizes Excellence in Black Visual Art

Hammonds House Museum presents Hammonds House Honors, an evening of celebration and recognition of excellence in Black visual art. In the inaugural year iconoclast photographer Roy DeCarava is remembered on the 100th Anniversary of his birth, and seven individuals who elevate the visual art of the African Diaspora through their passion, creativity and commitment to artistic and cultural excellence will be honored. The evening will kick off with a cocktail reception at 6:15 pm, followed by a glamorous award show at 7:30 PM. Monica Pearson will serve as host. In keeping with the spirit of this artistic occasion, dress will be artistically chic. The 2019 Hammonds House Honors will take place on September 12 at Southwest Arts Center, 915 New Hope Road SW, Atlanta, GA 30331. Tickets are available at hammondshouse.org/events.

Located in a beautiful Victorian home in Atlanta’s historic West End, Hammonds House Museum is a unique setting to explore the cultural diversity and legacy of artists of African descent. The museum is the former residence of the late Dr. Otis Thrash Hammondsa prominent Atlanta physician and a passionate arts patron. As a jazz guitarist, Rod has performed in numerous festivals and concert venues throughout the U.S. and with the release of the X/O EP, Rod is looking to take his sound to new territory.

ABOUT JERMAINE SAIN




Jermaine Sain is the host/ creator of a talk show called When We Speak. After exiting the U.S. Army in 2003, as a Medical Sergeant, Jermaine began pursuing a career in music after he auditioned for American Idol in 2005, in Austin, Texas.


In 2008, Jermaine moved to Atlanta where he has had the opportunity to provide backing vocals for Kem (Grammy nominated R&B Singer) Heart (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame), and Barry Manilow, as well as for companies such as Pink Ribbon Story Foundation and Verizon Wireless. He made his first music video appearance in Kem's Glorify The King.


Jermaine's talk show, When We Speak, caters to entertainment with a close focus on indie music professionals.
